The theme for 2015 is:
"Our language is our crowning glory of our community"

Pasifika Language Weeks have been going strong at Rowandale for the past 3 years. I created these daily challenge videos in 2013 and they have been great. Even other schools have followed our lead. But with all things it's always good to change it up and add new flavour to how we roll at Rowandale.

With help from our wonderful Pasifika Curriculum Team, we have now revamped our programmes for Pasifika Language Weeks at Rowandale School. We have decided to change it up from our normal daily challenge videos and instead focus on a project for the week! Classes will still be required to upload photos and videos to your class blog but it will be to document your classroom learning journey for the week.

This is our programme for CILW at Rowandale School

Monday - Thursday
Each class will choose a project to work on. These are the five categories:
1. Visual Art
- Making an ei (Cook Island headband)
- Make a class Tivaevae (Cook Island quilt)
- Pareu making (Pareu is cook island for lavalava - Tye dye or roll printing)
2. Dance
- Create your own class Drum Dance or Kapa Rima (Action Song)
3. Song
- Sing a Cook Island Song
4. Food
- Make traditional Cook Island Food - Doughnut, Poke or Maines
5. Research
- As a class you could do a research project around the 16 islands of the Cook Islands.

Friday 7 August
Block 2: 12:00 - 1:00pm - Cook Island Showcase
- Each class will present their week long project to the school.
- It can be recorded and presented as a video or performed on the stage
- A panel of judges will choose the best project from each syndicate and they will win free lunch.
- There will also be a performance by our Rowandale School Pasifika Group.

Each morning Sanford and Tyla will speak to the school through the intercom. They will teach us daily phrases in the Cook Island Language.
